    Job Description Summary:

    JOB SUMMARY


    This position supervises the daily operations of the Forensic Nursing team, ensuring the delivery of services for their areas of clinical care.

    Specific responsibilities include staff training, customer experience, staffing oversight, interdisciplinary collaboration and guiding the team to problem solve.

    This position reports to the OhioHealth Sexual Violence Services (OHSVS) Manager and has direct reports including Forensic Nurse Coordinators and staff level associates within the program.

    The Associate Manager carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with OhioHealth policies and applicable laws.

    This leader sets priorities for the coordinators to ensure front line tasks are completed as pertaining to departmental goals and objectives.

    Other responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work within the OHSVS department.

    The role receives guidance from the OHSVS Manager and has an active role in interviewing, hiring, payroll, performance evaluation, recognition, performance management, and addressing staff/patient concerns.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    Associate degree in nursing from an accredited program

    RN - Registered Nurse

    Licensed to practice in the State of Ohio

    SANE - Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner - Course completion following IAFN guidelines.


    DESIRED ATTRIBUTES
    SANE-A (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Adult/Adolescent) board certification through the IAFN (International Association of Forensic Nurses)

    4 years critical care/ED (emergency department) or maternal medicine nursing experience

    300 hours of forensic nursing practice within the past 3 years

    2 years of leadership experience

    Ensures privacy and security of information entrusted to their care.

    Uses company business assets and information resources for management-approved purposes only.

    Adheres to all information privacy and security policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.

    Promptly reports information security incidents to the OhioHealth Information Security Officer.


    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
    5%

    Working directly with OHSVS Manager and Director to analyze the growth and financial viability of areas of responsibility. This position will require strategic competence of grant administration and business growth for the Forensic Nursing Program.

    The position requires the ability to interface and develop strong relationships within the system, including all pertinent departments to meet strategic goals.

    25%

    Directing and evaluating program operations across the system. This position will include oversight and direction of forensic service and coordinators and other associates within the program.

    This position will require mentorship of coordinators and nurses within the Forensic Nursing Program. This position will be required to teach and mentor new and existing forensic coordinators and nurses to increase competencies.

    25%

    Strategically work to improve, define operational goals and objectives to strengthen forensic nurse competencies.

    This position will include working with the Forensic Nurse Coordinators to associate performance, productivity, and creating operational plans to improve operations/forensic coverage within the care sites.

    This role will work directly with the forensic nurses and coordinators as well as the OHSVS manager to facilitate and direct pertinent quality initiatives.


    These initiatives include, but are not limited to:
    Patient safety, care outcome improvements, research, and operational efficiency initiatives.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT


    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.

    The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Bachelor's Degree (Required), Master's DegreeRN - Registered Nurse - Ohio Board of Nursing, SANE-A - Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner - Adult/Adolescent - Forensic Nursing Certification Board, SANE-P - Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner - Pediatric - Commission for Forensic Nursing Certification (was Forensic Nurse Certification Board)


    SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

    • BLS - Basic Life Support
    • BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
    • Knowledge in assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of nursing care.
    • SANE-A Certification Preferred

    Field of Study:
    Nursing


    Years of experience: 4 years or more years nursing experience in areas that required advanced physical assessment skills such as emergency, critical care, and/or maternal nursing and 2 years as active staff FN and/or performed 30 independent forensic exams.
