- Work in a busy Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department within a large teaching hospital
- 61+ bed ED with surge capacity and high census
- Patient acuity includes trauma, stroke, chest pain, diabetes, abdominal pain, mental health, and more
- Typical nurse to patient ratio is 1:4, depending on ED zone
- Shift is 12 hours, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, with a six-week schedule cycle
- Required to work 5-6 weekend shifts out of every 12 shifts
- Expected to work approximately 75% of holidays, including one shift for each major holiday
- No call or floating outside the ED required
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and specialized ED equipment like rapid infusers and central telemetry monitoring
- Responsibilities include triage, monitoring, advanced interventions, medication administration, and participation in trauma care
- Strong team support includes CNAs, unit secretaries, phlebotomy techs, PICC team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
- Orientation consists of one day facility orientation and two days departmental orientation with educational modules
- Central telemetry tech support is available in the ED
- Scrub color for RNs is navy

- Unit culture is fast-paced, supportive, and collaborative
- Active GA or compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of emergency department RN experience required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and competency to pass EKG interpretation
- Experience with Level 1 Trauma procedures and emergency room protocols required
- Must be able to manage advanced drips such as Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, and Levophed
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- National emergency nursing certification is preferred but not required
- First-time travelers are eligible
