    About Weld RE-5J
    Weld RE 5J is a Rural District with seven schools serving approximately 3,800 students. In the district we have one state of the art newly built high school, one middle school (being remodeled), three elementary schools (two newly built/remodeled), and two charter schools; all schools are within a 15 minute drive of one another making for short distances to travel in the district. We are located just east of I-25 making an easy commute from many locations including Greeley, Loveland, Fort Collins, Denver and Rocky Mountain National Park; all while still having a mountain view

    High School Assistant Coach

    Terms:
    This position does not qualify for benefits. Salary is based on experience and per our Athletic Salary Schedule Column II ($2,350 - $5,850).

    GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY

    The assistant coach in each sport assigned is directly responsible to the head coach of that sport. He/she should have a working knowledge of the rules and regulations of the Re-5J Board of Education and the athletic standards of Roosevelt High School. He/she should also be familiar with the rules and regulations of the League and the Colorado High School Activities Association.

    PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
    1. Teaching assignment at Roosevelt High School. If not staff, must have successfully completed certified coaching class and be certified by CHSAA.
    2. Successful experience in his/her chosen coaching area.
    3. Successful background check.
    4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable.
    PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
    1. Encourage the student body and spectators to be courteous and polite to the visiting team.
    2. Always display good sportsmanship, winning or losing.
    3. Maintain poise and control at all times, especially at the contests.
    4. Teach the team to play fairly and within the rules.
    5. Be a good host to the visiting team and their coaches.
    6. Recommend discipline to the head coach for players who disregard good sportsmanship either on the field/floor or on the bench.
    7. Respect the officials' judgement and interpretation of the rules. If an appeal is necessary, follow appropriate procedures.
    8. Coach the team and not officiate the game.
    9. Publicity attempt to shake hands with officials and the opposing coach prior to and after the game.
    SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIIES

    SEASONAL
    1. Assist the head coach in carrying out his/her responsibilities.
    2. Assist the head coach is the issuance of equipment, registration of the players, and providing accurate information needed to compile eligibility lists and other reports.
    3. Assume responsibility for care of equipment and facilities.
    4. Assume control over athletes and teams assigned to him/her and assist in helping supervise all athletes in the program.
    5. Be in regular attendance at practice, contests, and meetings.
    6. Discipline, when necessary, in firm and positive manner.
    7. Provide the head coach with information needed in making reports and/or other releases.
    8. Emphasize safety and be aware of the best training and injury.
    END OF SEASON
    1. Assist in the return and inventory of school equipment.
    2. Recommend athletes for letter awards.
    3. Recommend equipment to be purchased.
