    Basic Purpose of the Job
    Under general supervision and direction from the Sports Program Coordinator,
    performs a variety of assigned duties and responsibilities involved in officiating youth baseball games.
    Learns and adheres to safety standards.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Work under the general direction and guidance of the Sports Program Coordinator.
    Must be able to work under minimal supervision and exercise sound independent judgment.

    Physical Demands: Requires ability to perform moderate fitness activity including running, kneeling, walking, standing, repetitive arm motions, crouching, balancing and stooping, and voice commands.
    Moderate physical work requiring ability to lift 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally; frequent lifting, carrying, hand/eye coordination. Vision for reading and preparing written reports and documents; frequent speech communication, hearing and listening to maintain communications with employees, coaches and citizens.

    Work Environment: Outside work, with exposure to outside elements including exposure to sun, wind, rain, and dust. Requires driving and walking during inclement weather. Frequent exposure to heat and cold, and occasional exposure to loud noise, cleaning chemicals and airborne particles.

    1. Performs assigned duties to include officiating youth baseball games, reviewing rules with coaches and
      players before games.
    2. Checks all equipment and field areas for safety hazards.
    3. Remains unbiased while umpiring and will professionally manage crowds.
    4. The umpire will approach the position as a representative of the City, displaying respect for the facility, participants, parents and co?workers.
    5. Provides excellent customer service including resolving complaints in a professional and efficient manner.
    6. Keeps track of game time.
    7. Practices proper safety precautions related to all work performed.

    Job Requirements
    • Ability to calculate basic math.
    • Ability to interpret and follow instructions.
    • Ability to stay calm and keep a professional demeanor even during tense situations.
    • Ability to work independently without supervision.
    • Able to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends during peak season.
    • Ability to comply with safety standards.
    • Some travel may be required.
    Licensures & Certificates (must be active and current.)
    • Must be 14 years of age or older for field umpire and 16 years of age or older for plate umpire.
    • Previous experience in a similar position preferred.
    • Knowledge of youth baseball rules and regulations.
    • CPR and First Aid Training preferred.
    • Valid Colorado driver's license with acceptable driving record for plate umpire preferred.
    Pay is $30 for field umpire/$45 for plate umpire
