    Manufacturing Systems Engineer and a Principal Manufacturing Systems Engineer

    to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in

    Palmdale, CA.

    This role will be supporting Virtual Maintenance Trainer (VMT) and Virtual Reality (VR) Development.


    Also, will drive the development of virtual reality training solutions systems containing logical and mathematical solutions for 3D game-based training.

    These solutions entail creating and conducting training programs using immersive virtual or computer-based simulations to train maintenance personnel. A

    Manufacturing Systems Engineer


    will:
    Keep up to date with advancements in technology and maintenance practices to enhance training content and methods continually.


    Identifying, tracking, and modeling requirements to create virtual maintenance training programs and materials, including interactive simulations, videos, and presentations, to instruct maintenance technicians and personnel.


    Maintaining documentation, interface control documents, and records of training sessions, participants' progress, and training materials for compliance and reporting purposes.

    Work closely with subject matter experts, instructional designers, and other stakeholders to improve training content and methods.

    Conduct virtual training sessions via online platforms or in virtual reality environments, ensuring participants acquire practical skills and knowledge.

    Ensure that all training materials and programs adhere to safety regulations and industry standards.

    Set up and maintain VR hardware and software, including headsets, controllers, tracking systems, and VR-ready computers. Ensure all equipment is in good working order and troubleshoot technical issues.

    Install, update, and manage VR software applications and simulations. Collaborate with developers or vendors to ensure software compatibility and functionality.

    Maintain an inventory of VR hardware, software licenses, and accessories. Order new equipment or replacement parts when necessary.

    Keep detailed records of equipment maintenance, user interactions, and troubleshooting efforts. Provide reports or documentation as required.

    This position may be filled at a Level 2 or a Level 3 based on the qualifications outlined below.

    Basic Qualifications for

    Manufacturing Systems Engineer:


    Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline with 2 years' experience in aviation, systems engineering, aerospace, or manufacturing/production; OR Master's Degree with 0 years' experience.


    Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret level clearance to include Special Program Access within a reasonable period, as defined by the company to meet its business needs.


    Experience with systems engineering processes, methodologies, tools, and products required to develop, integrate, evaluate, produce, deliver, operate, and sustain the virtual training environment over its operational life.

    Strong technical skills and familiarity with VR development platforms and tools. Must be active learner of hardware and software applications.

    Experience with Agile management methodology and tools (e.g.,TFS or Jira)

    Create user manuals and training materials for instructors and trainees.

    Develop and update functional, physical, and logical internal and external Interface Control Documents (ICDs).

    Ability to travel 10% of the time.

    Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years' experience in aviation, systems engineering, aerospace, or manufacturing/production; OR Master's Degree with 3 years' experience OR PhD with 0 years' experience


    Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret level clearance to include Special Program Access within a reasonable period, as defined by the company to meet its business needs.


    Experience with systems engineering processes, methodologies, tools, and products required to develop, integrate, evaluate, produce, deliver, operate, and sustain the virtual training environment over its operational life.

    Strong technical skills and familiarity with VR development platforms and tools. Must be active learner of hardware and software applications.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    A current and active DoD Secret level security clearance with a periodic re-investigation OR an original adjudication date completed within the last 5 years

    Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field

    Current Special Program Access

    Demonstrated technical leadership skills, decisiveness, and ability to make sound technical judgments with limited information

    Well-versed, skilled, and disciplined in system engineering processes

    Experience with using Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS-Project, Visio)

    Experience in the development, integration, and deployment of network architecture and digital infrastructure

    Experience in generating requirements, specifically, the ability to turn vague customer needs or stakeholder inputs into requirements.

    Experience working with IPTs, other stakeholders, and various customers such as Air Force and Navy

    Proposal experience, and experience in other early phases of program lifecycle

    Advanced Communication Systems Experience

    Prior experience operating in a dynamic environment of increasing production schedules and high delivery rates

    Siemens NX, TcE, CPLM, SAP, and Manufacturing Execution Systems

    CAM Experience

    Experience in hardware/software integration of manufacturing systems

    Experience with production assembly/fabrication including Digital Transformation, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality, Systems Integration, IIoT, RFID, and/or production manufacturing operations

    Extensive experience working with Edge Devices (EUD) (HoloLens1, HoloLens2, Tablets)

    Working knowledge of classified information systems infrastructure

    Digital Manufacturing experience

    Architecture, Design & Integration experience for engineering systems and software

    Technical Writing capability

    Project / Program Management skills (proposal creation, scheduling, budget tracking)

    Strong Familiarity with Process Development & Controls

    Experience in instructional design and training development is a plus.


    Salary Range:
    $87,200 - $130,800


    Salary Range 2:
    $107,300 - $160,900


    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
