- Coordinate all tax reporting with outside tax advisors with respect to all sales and use, property, business license, other excise taxes, and federal and state income taxes.
- Interact with the finance and operations team, as well as maintain a good understanding of operations and corporate functions in the business.
- Work with operations, finance, and other support groups to analyze tax implications of our business operations and any new business initiatives.
- Review any relevant tax returns, account reconciliations, and payments.
- Lead the creation and implementation of internal tools and processes, driving automation of sales and use tax and other tax reporting.
- Drive the integration of a sales tax platform with the ERP implementation and post-implementation ownership.
- Handle sales, property, business license, and other excise tax due diligence in acquisitions.
- Assist with tax accounting requirements and reporting, including monitoring changes in corporate tax legislation and US GAAP.
- Address timely and accurately ad hoc questions and issues that arise in the course of business.
- Sales and use tax compliance experience
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Tax technical knowledge and strong analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Property tax and other tax experience a plus
- Experience with Avalara or similar tax engine a plus
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university required
- CPA license, Master's Degree in Tax, LLM, or JD is preferred
- Ten plus years Corporate Income tax experience, ideally a combination of public accounting and large publicly trade multinational/multistate corporate experience
- Advanced understanding and experience with FAS 109/ASC 740; domestic and international issues
- Strong knowledge of indirect tax items (state and local tax (SALT), property tax, etc.)
- Knowledgeable in generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Advanced analytical skills
- Must be highly motivated and communicate in a highly professional and articulate manner verbally and in writing
- Ability to manage multiple complex assignments
- Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Knowledge of public accounting, the U.S. tax systems, and tax compliance law
