    Job Summary
    Central Washington University is recruiting a Department Chair at the rank of full Professor or Associate Professor to join our Computer Science team in Ellensburg, Washington. This role is an important member of our team as they enhance the vision for the University. The role is a campus-based position, which means you get to see the lives you are impacting. We're offering a salary, depending on education and experience, from $120,000 – $145,000 annually plus the awesome CWU benefits.

    The Role:

    The Department of Computer Science at Central Washington University (CWU) invites applications for a Department Chair at the rank of full Professor or Associate Professor starting Fall 2024. Department chairs are leaders among the faculty in developing strong student advising, teaching, research, public service, and academic programs within their departments. As chair, you will have a reduced teaching load that can include general computer science courses, as well as courses within your area of expertise. You will also engage in scholarship and service activities as part of your workload. Chairs play an important role in integrating CWU's commitment to diversity and maintaining a learning environment that is welcoming, accessible, and inclusive for all students.

    Minimum Qualifications
    PhD in Computer Science or closely related field.
    Effective leadership skills as demonstrated by submitted written materials, stated accomplishments on the vita, and reference checks.
    Academic or equivalent administrative experience with teaching, scholarship, and service profile commensurate with a tenure appointment at the rank of associate or full professor.
    Demonstrated commitment to successful student outcomes, using culturally responsive/relevant teaching or professional development or mentoring or equivalent.
    Preferred Qualifications

    Successful leadership and administrative experience demonstrating the ability to strongly advocate for an inclusive and equitable workplace.
    Evidence of excellence in engaging and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, particularly minoritized and underserved populations.
    Ability to collaboratively manage programs across multiple sites using multiple modalities.

    Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
    Annual Salary: $120,000 – $145,000, based on a full-time ten-month appointment
    In accordance with RCW , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

    Appointment: Full-Time, Tenured, 10 Month Appointment. Additional Summer teaching may be available. Central Washington University is on the quarter system with appointments from mid-September through mid-June.
