Job Description
Job DescriptionBasic Function: Responsible for recording and reporting financial information accurately and on time while maintaining solid internal controls in all functions of the Controllership to include Accounts Payable, Contracts, Statutory Reporting, Grants and External/Internal Audits.
Reports To: Chief Financial and Administrative Officer
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
· Lead accounting operations, including A/P, accurate allocations, accruals, and financial operations for five programs.
· Verify accuracy of general ledger and supporting journals, including reconciliation of account balances to supporting documentation and preparation of journal entries.
· Prepare required financial statements any other reports of a financial nature.
· Enhance and implement financial accounting systems, process, tools and control systems.
· Ensure monthly and year-end financial close is on time, accurate, and follows GAAP and specific reporting policy by government contract. Manage monthly close process including conducting variance analyses and finance review meetings with program leads and executive staff.
· Oversee the preparation and distribution of key financial and operational metrics.
· Interact with organization managers to provide consultative support to budget initiatives through financial cost controls, management information analysis, reports and recommendations.
· Ensure compliance to all organization financial policies. Ensure company policies and procedures comply with state, local and government regulations.
· Manage and schedule staff for timely completion of annual external audits; Financial audit for Ada and Samaritas, HUD audits, Single Audit and the pension audit.
· Partnering with the Director of Finance, responsible for all financial and compliance monitoring of sub-recipients and sub-contractors.
· Propose on-going system enhancements, including the main ERP (Great Plains).
· Manage implementation of systems related to Accounting/Finance department.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
· This role supervises a team of 2-3 Analysts, an A/P Manager, and an Accountant.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting is required. CPA preferred. MBA a plus.
Experience:
· Minimum of 10 years' experience as a Controller or Accounting Manager, preferably with a direct services organization, not-for-profit or healthcare system.
· Knowledge of GAAP, internal controls
· Minimum 10 years of experience in process improvement, financial systems administration/implementation.
· Prior supervision of an accounting department required.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Solid knowledge of GAAP and internal controls is essential. Must have the inclination to follow rules and procedures and avoid avenues of compromise at the expense of high standards and accepted principles. Earns trust and maintains confidences with consistent ethical standards.
· Exceptional written, listening, and verbal communication skills are required. Speaks plainly and truthfully and writes clearly and succinctly. Seeks to understand others viewpoints. · Ability to organize and analyze statistical data and prepare comprehensive reports as required. Excellent attention to detail. Ensures important items/points do not slip or derail a project.
· Must possess good judgment along with a wide degree of creativity in order to plan and accomplish goals.
· Consistently sets realistic deadlines and follows through on commitments. Lives up to verbal and written agreements. Explicitly renegotiates expectations when needed.
· Possesses a servant leader mentality. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department heads, other managers, employees and vendors with a customer service perspective. This will require travel to our various site & program locations. Reaches out to peers/staff and cooperates with supervisors to establish an overall collaborative working relationship.
· Must be able to effectively train, mentor, and develop the team. Coach staff in their current roles to improve performance and prepare them for future responsibilities.
· Must be able to work extended hours as needed.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
· Proficient in Microsoft Dynamics – Great Plains.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear, and to use hands to operate the computer. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
