    Description:

    The primary role of a phlebotomist is to support in carrying out various assigned tasks, troubleshooting, training, and providing suggestions to enhance work efficiency.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Experience in conducting blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging samples, maintaining records, decontaminating, and updating patient data.
    • Collect and store specimens following established protocols.
    • Demonstrate proper techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles, ensuring full understanding of all physician instructions.
    • Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, freeze specimens as per test orders, and verify requisitions against scripts for accuracy.
    • Package specimens for transport, store them at correct temperatures, and label them accurately for proper handling and integrity preservation.
    • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations, attend annual department trainings, and respond to telephone inquiries by providing laboratory results.

    Hours:

    Outpatient Lab 1st shift, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications:

    • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Valid Phlebotomy certification as required by state regulations.
    • Experience in venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital environment.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with a High School Diploma or GED.
    • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
