    VBG (Veteran Benefits Guide) was founded by a former active-duty United States Marine with the goal of ensuring that Veterans receive the correct disability benefits in a timely manner.

    VBG has successfully guided over 35,000 Veterans by submitting their VA (Veteran Affairs) disability claims, resulting in increased compensation benefits for their disabilities that are related to active-duty service.

    As a company founded by a Veteran and staffed by many Veterans and families of Veterans, Veteran Benefits Guide is committed to advocating for policies that protect the rights and interests of former servicemembers.

    In this role, you will start with straightforward projects and gradually tackle increasingly complex AI systems, integrating state-of-the-art AI technologies into our business operations.

    Ideal for a passionate, mid-level to senior software engineer, this position offers a unique blend of technical challenge and creativity.

    Essential Functions:
    Implement and continuously refine AI solutions, beginning with the deployment of GPT assistants using OpenAI APIs.
    Process and interpret information from various data formats, particularly PDFs, to be utilized in AI-driven applications.

    Lead the transition from dependency on cloud-based APIs to in-house AI solutions, including the development and maintenance of vector databases and local GPT models.

    Guarantee the reliability and scalability of AI solutions, ensuring they meet the demands of enterprise-level environments.
    Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify and leverage opportunities for enhancing business processes through AI technologies.

    Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the organization, staying informed of the latest developments in AI technologies and best practices.

    Prioritize and enforce robust security protocols to safeguard all AI implementations, ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of data in compliance with industry standards and regulations.

    Collaborate with our security engineers and analysts to implement and enforce security best practices throughout the software development lifecycle
    Develop and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design specifications, and system documentation.

    Qualifications or Competency:

    3-5+ years of experience as a software engineer required.
    Proficiency in key programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++, and familiarity with AI-related frameworks and libraries required.
    Strong background in AI technologies, including machine learning, natural language processing, and GPT models.
    Proficiency in API integration and management, especially OpenAI or similar platforms.
    Skilled in data extraction from documents, especially PDFs a plus.
    Knowledge of vector databases and local AI model hosting a plus.
    Clean, maintainable, efficient coding for AI integrations.
    Awareness of AI ethics, data privacy, and security.
    Excellent problem-solving and technical innovation skills.
    Knowledge in AI model training and deployment tools (e.g., TensorFlow, Py Torch) preferred.
    Experience in natural language processing tasks (text classification, sentiment analysis, etc.) preferred.
    Experience with MongoDB, , React, and preferred.

    Supervisor Responsibilities:
    This position will not have any direct reports.


    Work Environment:
    This job operates in a professional office-based environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

    Position Type:
    Full-time, exempt


    Core Business Hours:
    This is a full-time position. Working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with in-office attendance required three times per week with the rest of the time being remote. More days in the office may be required as needed. Occasional after-hours coverage may be necessary.


    Travel:
    Offsite training or meeting travel is estimated to be less than 5%.


    Education and Experience:
    Bachelor's degree (Engineering/CS/Information Systems, etc.) or equivalent experience
