    Per G.S cl) (37), this position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7.

    Recruiting for multiple positions.

    The Registered Nurse position will provide the performance of professional nursing care and treatment in accordance with medical protocols. Will develop nursing care plans based on diagnosis and pertinent medical information.

    Will meet patient and family needs such as conducting nursing assessments; developing, implementing and evaluating treatment plans and providing patient care and education.

    Works independently to carry out nursing care processes and sets up an environment to assist patients in obtaining maximum level of functioning or recovery.


    Job duties include the following:

    • Serves as a "Charge Nurse", overseeing the daily nursing care activities on an assigned shift or in a preceptor role.
    • Coordinates all licensed and non-licensed staff duties.
    • Administers medications and treatments as directed by a Physician.
    • Maintains appropriate treatment and documentation.

    Qualified candidates must document on the application that they clearly possess all of the following:


    • Knowledge of professional principles, practices and theory of nursing and its application.
    • Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations governing the provision of nursing care.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology.
    • Knowledge of medications and the physiological effects.
    • Ability to independently plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
    • Ability to lead a team.
    • Ability to delegation and make assignments.
    • Ability to communicate in a concise and descriptive manner, verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to appropriately respond to emergency situations.

    Management Preferences:

    • Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain organization while delivering quality nursing services.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
    • Ability to stoop, bend, walk, run short distances and climb stairs without limitations of a permanent nature.

    Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

    Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:


    A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).

    An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

    (1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);

    (2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;

    (3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

    This Sign-on Bonus is contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire. Additional information regarding the Sign-on Policy can be found
