    Senior Hardware Engineer- System Memory and Storage


    to collaborate with Silicon Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering, Azure Engineering, and Qualification Engineering and Component Enablement groups to qualify memory and storage components for Microsoft Data Center.

    who can understand components architecture, software applications, and Operating Systems(OS) environment to lead components qualification, debug and test development for both device and system levels.

    This role will also include writing test software in some cases and debug at the cutting edge of high-performance computing, provides an opportunity to benefit millions of users daily.

    Also be able to synthesize complex and sometimes conflicting requirements from hardware, software and business teams.

    Responsibilities

    Qualification lead for memory and storage components testing.

    Collaborate with hardware and software teams to define and architect test solution for both component and system levels to meet requirements and specification.

    Oversee the test plans and qualification coverage for memory and storage, including usage models.
    Debug and drive to resolution issues related to the qualification of Microsoft's Cloud Servers.
    Develop test scripts as needed for debug and focus testing.
    Work with suppliers and internal teams on resolving issues.
    Interact with multiple teams inside and outside of Microsoft.

    Qualifications


    Required Qualifications:
    7+ years of technical engineering experience

    OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience
    OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience
    OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

    3+ years of experience with Microsoft and/or Online Commerce Platform(OCP) Cloud server platforms.
    5+ years of experience in server system, system memory, and storage architectures.


    Other Requirements:
    Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.

    These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

    Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

    This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Master's degree preferred.
    10+ years of experience in hardware validation (planning, documentation, development, execution, and debug).
    Familiar with networking, power, rack management and remote access environments.
    Experience integrating and validating hardware components and/or system levels.

    Familiar with and able to develop scripts (PowerShell, Python, Perl) and routines to enable debug and accelerate data collection and data reduction via automation.

    Able to work collaboratively in team environment and across internal divisions and industry (Original Equipment Manufacturers(OEM), Original Design Manufacturers(ODM), demonstrate technical leadership in driving successful product development.

    Hardware Engineering IC- The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year.

    There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
