    Position Summary:

    The Associate Attorney uses creative, innovative, and aggressive legal strategies to assist clients with criminal defense and immigration cases. Handles a case load of immigration and criminal cases that includes affirmative and defensive filings with USCIS and/or the immigration court and misdemeanor defense in local criminal courts. The associate will assist with litigation where necessary, including post-conviction relief.

    Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Ability to perform accurate legal research and analysis
    • Ability to understand complex legal issues or the ability to quickly learn them
    • Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations in legal documents.
    • Research complex legal issues and develop and execute creative legal strategies in evolving or new areas of law
    • Review and approve files, pleadings, and any other legal work product produced by paralegals and legal assistants.
    • Assist with litigation where necessary, including post-conviction relief.
    • Handle a criminal and immigration caseload.
    • Attend court as needed.
    • Communicate effectively with USCIS, other criminal and immigration agencies, clients, and teammates.
    • Communicate effectively and consistently with clients.
    • Maintain a consistent attendance record and availability, whether in office or remote.
    • Valid license and current membership in the bar in any U.S. State.
    • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Skills/Abilities:

    • Demonstrated expertise in crimmigration law and a strong understanding of the intersection between criminal and immigration law.
    • Empathy, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work with clients from diverse backgrounds.
    • Proven track record of legal research, case management, and court representation skills.
    • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
    • Bilingual Language Skills, particularly in Spanish, are highly desirable due to the demographics of the client base.
    • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
    • Supervisory and leadership skills. Ability to lead a team by inspiring others and sharing the firms vision.
    • Excellent time management skills
    • Strong skill level in MS Office Suite/Google Suite, including Word, Excel, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.
    • Able to exercise good judgment
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality

    Education/Experience:

    • JD from an accredited university
    • License to practice law in Georgia
    • Public defense, Trial Advocacy and/or Moot Court experience is preferred
    • Some criminal law experience is preferred
