**Description**
**SUMMARY:** This position is responsible for negotiating and managing specific commodity purchases to support production and new product development while minimizing costs and inventory levels.
Alpha Technologies , a Roper company, is the world leader in the design, manufacture, service and support of precision rubber and polymer laboratory instrumentation and data acquisition/analysis software systems.
**Essential Job Functions Responsibilities**
Lead vendor qualification and selection program for all new product development efforts
Negotiate with suppliers to meet quality, delivery, and cost objectives
Develop strategic procurement plans for assigned commodities
Manage vendor relationships
Initiate, review, and take corrective actions to maintain vendor performance
Drive inventory reduction, while ensuring material availability is maintained
Actively lead continuous improvement and Kaizen/Lean/Six Sigma projects
Establish and maintain rapport with all levels of supplier personnel and internal customers
Execute contract negotiation to ensure most advantageous terms and conditions
Perform new part set up in MRP system
Assign and maintain HTS/Schedule B Codes
Analyze and understand market and supplier conditions that may impact future procurement
Monitor current and alternative sourcing markets and develop sourcing strategies based upon market intelligence gathered
Identify and lead process improvement initiatives
**Education Experience Qualifications**
Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Materials Management or related field required
Minimum 6 years strategic sourcing experience in an engineering/manufacturing environment required
Sourcing for electrical or machined parts experience preferred
Strong analytical and data management skills required
Project management skills required
Ability to interact with all organizational levels
Demonstrated leadership skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to lead and work effectively during change
Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
Intermediate to advanced PC skills including MS Office
Working knowledge of MRP principles and materials management within a manufacturing environment; Avante, Epicore or Equiv preferred
APICS and/or CPM certification preferred
Knowledge of Import/Export laws and compliance; Licensed Customs Broker a plus
Ability to work with multiple geographies / locations and departments
Ability to handle multiple priorities, work independently and employ effective time management skills
