Up to 10%Type of Travel: Local* * *At CACI Ops-West, we specialize in the design, development and manufacturing of complex, state-of-the-art Optical Communication systems for military, space, and commercial applications.

We are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities include:

Design and analysis of hardware for harsh conditions including high dynamic loads and wide thermal environmentsExperience in designing active and passive thermal control systems and thermal and dynamic/stress analysisSpecifying and evaluating mechanical hardware including, but not limited to, the following:Engineering materialsAutomated and manual motion control systemsThermal management / temperature control systems Mechatronics analysis and design for precision optical communication systems a plusLaboratory validation and testing of test setups, breadboard and prototype subsystemsCreating and presenting design review materials to other members of the team as well as customersProviding technical support for new concepts and proposalsThe successful candidate will have the following qualifications/experience:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering3+ years of experience in the design, analysis, and test of precision mechanismsExcellent hands-on and laboratory skills in building, testing and validation of optical subsystems, and thermal and dynamic subassembliesExperience in successfully transitioning prototype designs into productionExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsThe following qualifications and experience are highly desired but not required:Familiarity with free-space optical communication systemsFamiliarity with the design and integration of opto/electo-mechanical systemsSpace-based (satellite) payload experienceCitizenshipDue to the nature of much of the work we do, this position is restricted to U.S.
