    Responsibilities


    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The RN is responsible for managing patients admitted or being seen for medical conditions or surgical procedures; performs the primary function of a professional nurse leader in assessing, planning, guiding, and evaluating nursing care provided to patients.

    The RN provides safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing care. Assessments related to specific conditions, therapies and interventions are required. The RN shall oversee and guide nursing employees that are under their supervision.

    Responsible for interaction with hospital staff and/or ancillary departments regarding patient care, concerns, and conflicts with identification and assistance in resolutions.

    May be occasions when it will be necessary to work weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, and/or on-call/call-back status. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times.
    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    MINIMUM of 2 years experience in specialty being considered:

    • Must have and maintain current certifications, according to unit specific needs.
    • Must maintain a status of EE or better on annual evaluations to remain in the program; Should the Plus Pay RN fall below the EE rating the employee will be placed on a performance improvement plan for a period of 90 days. If employee fails to reach status of an EE or better at the end of 90 days the RN will be removed from the Plus Pay program and the employee's compensation will be adjusted to reflect the new status of regular full-time, part time or per diem employment based on the current RN pay grade.
    • Regular FT and PT, and per diem RN's are not eligible for transfer to the Plus Pay RN program. Former employees may be considered for rehire into the Plus Pay RN program following 90 days of separation from an STHS facility.

    "Plus Pay" RN's must be available to be scheduled a minimum of 36 hours per week, work 2 week-ends per month and at least 2 holidays per year bases on departmental standards.


    EDUCATION / LICENSURE:

    • Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Texas, or part of a compact state license, or has a valid temporary RN license for the State of Texas while waiting to receive the permanent license. BSN preferred.
    • Must possess an Associate Degree, Baccalaureate Degree or Diploma from a School of Nursing or University.
    • Must have and maintain current certifications, according to unit specific needs.
    Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider's Program (for any and all certifications applicable through the AHA program) – please check all that apply:

    XBCLS/CPRMust be current upon hire and thereafter x ACLSIf required in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain within 12 months of hire;
    nurse with over a year of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;
    or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times PALS
    or
    ENPCIf required in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain within 12 months of hire;
    nurse with over a year of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;
    or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times X NRPIf required in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain within 12 months of hire, nurse with over a year of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;
    or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times TNCCIf required in unit, must have and maintain certification within eighteen months after hire;
    or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times STABLEIf required in unit, must obtain within 12 months of hire,
    or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times CPIIf required in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain within 12 months of hire; nurse with over a year of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;
    or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times SAMAIf required in unit, - obtain within 30 days of hire
