    POSITION OVERVIEW

    The Marine Electrician III is responsible for:

    • The installation of all vessel-related electrical system components, to include wiring/cables, power generation components, control panels, junction boxes, etc.
    • Performing system start-up and functional testing of electrical systems and troubleshoot/repair system issues.
    • Removing, installing, and repairing electrical equipment and fixtures.
    • Removing and installing diverse types of cable tray systems.
    • Troubleshooting motor and control systems.
    • Performing routine maintenance on electrical wiring and systems.
    • Building control panels.
    • Understanding proper safety and abiding by all quality rules as instructed.
    • Creating solutions, procedures, and policies, while working with various departments.
    • Resolving problems using established procedures and common sense.
    • Working independently 75% of the time.
    • Reading electrical schematics and drawings and correctly interpreting them.
    • Being fully reliable and able to share knowledge with peers while supporting peer reading and interpretation of drawings and schematics.
    • Supporting and leading peer training.

    In addition to the above, the Marine Electrician IV is also responsible for:

    • Serving as a back up to the functional Lead or Supervisor as needed.
    • Subject Matter Expert for training and troubleshooting.
    • Working fully independently on all projects
    • Leading peer training and supportive functions

    QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES

    Level III

    ESSENTIAL

    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Minimum of 4-5 years' experience in marine electrical installation.
    • Advanced electrical knowledge of low voltage systems, electrical schematics, and drawings.
    • Advanced electrical troubleshooting abilities.
    • Ability to use hand tools; owning and using own set of tools is required for this position.
    • Ability to work in limited spaces.
    • Understanding how to use a multi-meter.
    • Strong communication skills and effective at building relationships at all levels.
    • Energetic, motivated and goal oriented.
    • Able to work well in a fast paced, team environment.
    • Focus on detail and accuracy in all efforts.
    • Quick and resourceful learner.
    • Prior experience in a small organization, demonstrating abilities with multiple objectives and multitasking efforts.

    Level IV

    ESSENTIAL

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment where exposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp cutting tools, dust, fumes and airborne particles, temperature extremes and elevated noise level.
    • Employees must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and or move more than 75 pounds.
    • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to strand, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, talk and hear.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    • Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protection and work boots.

    KEY PERFOMANCE INDICATORS

    • Production Department Contractual Performance.
    • Annual performance review.

    RELATIONSHIPS

    This role requires a good relationship with the individuals and teams across the Production and Project delivery organizations to ensure Birdon achieves the safe completion of the agreed work, in the time required.

    Your communication and direct contact with Birdon clients are an important aspect of this position. It is your responsibility to ensure that Birdon's values and interests are maintained during your relationship with clients, subcontractors, visitors, suppliers, and employees.
