    The Branch Manager organizes and leads the business and administrative functions in their assigned branch to meet or exceed the organization's goals for utilization, pre-distribution profit (PDP), fee growth, staff development, and client service.

    The Branch Manager establishes and maintains a leadership team to accomplish these goals by:

    Achieving high levels of client and employee satisfaction.
    Being accountable for the branch's financial and operational performance.
    Providing for and overseeing staff development, training, and mentoring.
    Assuring that QA/QC procedures are well understood and consistent in execution.
    Developing strong organization plans, business development plans, and business development teams (account or market focused).

    Demonstrating a high degree of creativity, foresight and mature judgment in planning, organizing and guiding the activities of the branch.

    Allocating his/her time between branch responsibilities (10% to 20%), business development (20-30%), and related project work (50-60%).
    Reporting to the South Region Operations Manager.

    Some of GEI's most successful Branch Managers are also our highest performing seller-doers, pursuing and managing technical projects involving GEI's core disciplines.

    Establishes and maintains a branch leadership team. The branch leadership team works with Branch Manager to execute essential duties listed herein.

    Effectively collaborates with and supports the South Region Operations Manager, South Region Growth Leader and practice leaders to achieve area and region wide strategic, tactical and budget goals.

    Leads branch to accomplish objectives including financial, business development, strategic, client satisfaction, and technical services goals as defined in the regional annual budget and strategic plan.

    Responsible for meeting or exceeding branch utilization and fee growth goals.
    Assesses project variances and develops and implements mitigation strategies.

    Manages receivables and the resolution of variances of branch staff/projects to ensure good relations with clients, timely payments to GEI and targeted project financial performance.

    Undertakes measures that assure the organization meets or exceeds its target financial goals (with consideration to goals for growth and diversification).

    Manages branch staff, including personnel actions, hiring, orientation, performance appraisals, promotions, and terminations, all in conformance with GEI policies.
    Emphasizes and exercises GEI's health and safety policies, ensures health and safety practices are followed by staff.
    Develops promotion, merit increase, and bonus recommendations.
    Manages and supports professional training, development, and mentoring of branch staff.
    Helps identify and budget for training and seminars both external and internal.
    Engages in self and professional improvement activities to remain aware of technical, business development, and performance improvement advances.
    Technical Project Leadership


    Works cooperatively with senior and mid-level staff to develop project management plans, ensure work product quality and risk management through accepted and consistently applied QA/QC procedures, and participates on project teams in varying capacities as appropriate.

    Ensures that project technical excellence is achieved by project staff and implements appropriate training and staff development solutions when challenges emerge.

    Works within the South Region and company to foster collaboration and sharing of resources and project opportunities.
    Executes and manages technical projects in candidate's area(s) of expertise, e.g., engineering, environmental, etc.
    Business Development Leadership

    Leads organization business development through successful personal business development and by encouraging others.

    Manages branch business development activities to grow the business through expansion of projects and service lines for existing clients, developing new clients, generating target specific leads, and encouraging branch staff to do the same.

    Works with Regional Operations Managers, other Branch Managers, and practice leaders throughout the region and outside the region to identify and pursue new project and client opportunities in GEI's core service portfolio.

    Leads and acts as a Proposal Manager for proposals as needed or assigns appropriate Proposal Manager tasks to others to help win new and recurring work.

    Qualifications


    General:
    Strong leadership abilities.
    Prior experience with financial metrics, staffing decisions, strategic planning with operations, and contract negotiations.
    Prior experience in the engineering and environmental (A&E) consulting field.
    Strong record of accomplishment in mentoring staff and providing for staff development across a multi-disciplinary team.
    Prior experience in program, group, or office supervisory or management role.
    Advanced oral, written, and inter-personal communication skills.
    Proven ability to work collaboratively with internal and client project teams.

    Successful seller doer who proactively builds client relationships and has broad knowledge of clients and contacts in the relevant geography.

    Experience: 15+ years relevant industry experience preferred.

    Education:
    B.S. required, preferably in a GEI core Engineering or Science discipline (M.S. desirable), or equivalent experience.

    Licensure:
    Licensed (e.g. P.E., P.G.) in professional discipline/s within the branch state/area preferred.
