Salary Range:

The SICU Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provide comprehensive care for critically ill surgical patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. This role involves managing high-acuity patients, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring continuity of care across all phases of critical illness.

Salary Range: $130,145- $151,836

Primary Responsibilities

Perform daily SICU rounds and actively participate in multidisciplinary discussions.

Conduct comprehensive history and physical examinations for critically ill patients.

Develop and implement evidence-based care plans in collaboration with attending physicians.

Order, interpret, and act upon diagnostic tests and imaging.

Perform and assist with bedside procedures (e.g., arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, thoracentesis).

Manage ventilators and advanced hemodynamic monitoring.

Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges to ensure seamless transitions of care.

Document all patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR).

Respond to emergent situations and provide rapid assessment and intervention.

Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members regarding care plans and prognosis.

Participate in hand-offs and care coordination meetings.

Support education, research, and quality improvement initiatives within the SICU.

 

Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.

Current NYS licensure and national certification (NCCPA or ANCC/AANP).

BLS and ACLS certifications required; ATLS preferred.

1–2 years of experience in critical care or surgical ICU preferred; new graduates with strong ICU training may be considered.

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Strong communication, procedural, and decision-making skills.
