    Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an educational recruitment firm, is currently seeking Middle School Science Teachers for the year in K-12 private and independent schools in the Washington D.C. area.

    Responsibilities of Science Teacher:

    • A demonstrated commitment to engaging learners through experiential learning; hands-on approach to teaching science in a dynamic and applied fashion.
    • Collaboration with faculty.
    • Presenting well-planned lessons with appropriate work in and outside of the classroom with a focus on the integration of subject areas, problem-solving, and creativity..
    • Integration of technology and a variety of mediums into classroom lessons.
    • Maintenance of an organized, pleasant, and inviting environment that supports excellence in teaching and learning; maintenance of resources and inventory of science/lab materials and equipment.
    • Leadership of the school community in a variety of forums aimed at showcasing and highlighting science throughout the school year.
    • Enthusiasm about working collaboratively to build curriculum and improve pedagogy.
    • Active participation in professional growth and reflection.

    Requirements of Science Teacher:

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant science is required.
    • Two or more years of science teaching experience.
    • A background in lesson planning and unit mapping that delivers a clear scope and sequence is necessary.
    • Clear and effective communication with families is necessary and a good sense of humor, a positive outlook, and an appreciation of the unique qualities of the age group are essential.
    • A strong willingness to receive feedback regularly, grow professionally, significantly contribute to the life of the school, and be eager to work in a culturally and ethnically diverse school community.
    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
