    Immediate contract opportunity for an AI Governance Specialist with direct client in New York City.


    The AI Governance Specialist will play a key role in formulating the client's approach to address the ethical, legal, and societal implications of use of AI-drive applications across the organization.

    This role develops frameworks, guidelines, and controls to align the organization's AI initiatives with its values and mission.

    The position tracks the rapid evolution of AI and provides subject matter expertise to inform policy, guidelines, and best practices for AI governance.

    By researching emerging risks and recommending safeguards, the position enables the client to integrate innovative AI capabilities while prioritizing transparency, accountability, and trust.


    Education:
    advanced degree (Master or PhD) in computer science, engineering, data science, law, policy, ethics, or related field.


    Experience & Skills:

    • Demonstrated expertise in AI technologies, including machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision.
    • Strong understanding of ethical, legal, and societal issues related to AI governance.
    • Knowledge of AI governance best practices.
    • Experience developing and implementing policies, guidelines, or standards in a relevant field.
    • Excellent research, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to simplify complex concepts for broad audiences.
    • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
    • Fluency in English; proficiency in other languages is an asset.

    Responsibilities:
    Research


    • Conduct research and analysis on AI governance trends, best practices, and emerging challenges, stay current on AI innovations, public perceptions, and societal impacts.
    • Monitor AI regulatory and policy landscape, recommend responses to senior management.
    • Monitor and assess the impact of AI technologies on human rights, privacy, security, and other relevant areas.
    Develop and Execute


    • Develop an AI Governance Framework and associated controls for ethical use of AI.
    • Develop and review policies, guidelines, and standards related to AI governance, including ethical principles, transparency requirements, and accountability mechanisms.
    • Collaborate with relevant departments and teams to integrate AI governance considerations into project planning, implementation, and evaluation.
    • Provide technical expertise and guidance on AI governance issues to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Advise on ethical AI practices aligned to organizational values.
    Outreach and Communication


    • Organize workshops, seminars, and training sessions on AI governance topics for staff, partners, and other stakeholders.
    • Prepare reports, briefings, and presentations on AI governance activities and outcomes for internal and external audiences.
