    Summary You will serve as a POLICE OFFICER (INSTRUCTOR) in the FORCE PROTECTION ORGANIZATION of NAVBASE CORONADO SEC DET. Duties * You will develop law enforcement approaches and methods of instruction to verify the curriculum meet course objectives.

    * You will serve as a firearms range control officer in the operation of a range program for a Practical Weapons Course (PWC) or Firearms Training System.(FATS).

    * You will review and evaluate law enforcement staff actions for adherence to installation or training policies. * You will collaborate with training facilities (e.g., installation personnel, regional training academy staff) to supplement course instruction. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Must be a US Citizen. * Must be determined suitable for federal employment. * Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

    You must submit DD Form 2760, Qualification to Possess Firearms before appointment. * You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment and yearly physical examination. Required to pass an annual Physical Agility Test. * You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license. * Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required.

    A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test.

    You will be subject to random testing. * This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential.

    You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.

    * This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.

    You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.

    * Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

    * You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.

    Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

    * You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency. * Must be 21 years of age. * Incumbent may be required to obtain and maintain the following training, licensing, and certifications: Explosive/Hazardous Materials Driver. * Required to wear a uniform and comply with grooming standards.

    * You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

    Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

    Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying law enforcement procedures to instruct on Federal and local laws, traffic laws, established rules, regulations, and legal authorities; 2) Preparing instructional methods and theories used in a Police Officer's training environment; 3) Instructing investigative procedures, techniques, and methods to resolve crimes and other incidents; 4) Developing course materials and techniques to train law enforcement personnel. Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of continued employment. Employee will be required to sign a continuing service agreement prior to travel to the academy. Agreement to Continue in Service
    • CSA, Agency requires 36 month of continued employment after the completion of required training from the FLETC in accordance with Title 5 USC 4108 and 5 CFR Failure to voluntary complete length of employment requirement can subject employee to reimburse to the agency for fees, such as tuition and related fees, travel, and other special expenses (excluding salary) paid in connection with the training.

    This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, rotating shifts, second shift, third shift, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Call back and emergency overtime may be requirements of this position. PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ). To receive priority consideration, the FPL must be the same grade level or equivalent of the retained grade or the grade held immediately prior to separation. Military Spouse Preference applicants will be placed at the highest grade for which they have applied and are determined Best Qualified (BQ). A BQ military spouse possesses knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies comparable to others who meet the competitive referral criteria for the specific position.
