    This position is located at Department of Homeland Security (DHS), US Coast Guard, Director of Logistics (DOL), Base Miami Beach (Richmond Heights), Facilities Engineering Department, Miami Beach, FL



    Duties


    Incumbent performs preventative and corrective maintenance (PM/CM) on various systems and equipment. The incumbent also performs electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and carpentry duties while using web-based research and Microsoft applications tools to procure repair parts and to research technical documents.

    Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments includes:

    • Executing routine and common electrical repairs with precision, encompassing the removal, replacement, tightening, splicing, soldering, and insulation of defective wiring, controls, equipment, and fixtures.
    • Installing and repairing electrical systems within buildings, offices, or shops.
    • Installing, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of commercial and domestic refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, heating, and ventilation systems, including, but not limited to, small package rooftop and room size air-conditioning units, air handlers for hot and cold units and other equipment of comparable complexity.
    • Conducting precision repairs by disassembling, cleansing, substituting, packing, and hermetically sealing faulty components within utility, supply, and disposal systems, encompassing intricate tasks such as rectifying obstructed traps, replacing sections of compromised pipelines, and addressing leaks in drainage systems.
    • Measuring, cutting, constructing, installing, repairing, and modifying wood, composite, and wood substitute items, ensuring precise fit and accuracy within allowable limits to deliver functional end products.
