    THE POSITION


    Have you ever had the opportunity to judge harness races? The Department of Agriculture is currently looking for an Associate Judge at Pocono Downs Racetrack.

    This role involves interpreting and upholding the rules and regulations of the Pennsylvania Horse Racing Commission to maintain the integrity of the sport.

    DESCRIPTION OF WORK


    Your main responsibility in this position is to uphold the fairness of horse racing by interpreting and enforcing the rules and regulations set by the Pennsylvania Horse Racing Commission.

    This involves maintaining important records such as the Judges Books, the Steward's List, accident reports, and daily reports to the Commission.

    Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing, delivering, and posting notices of penalties, rulings, and decisions, as well as providing support to the Presiding Judge.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

    • Work schedule is vendor controlled and may vary based on race schedule.
    • Work hours are 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Sunday
    • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY


    QUALIFICATIONS

    Additional Requirements:

    • You must have ROAP (Racing Officials Accreditation Program) Accreditation
    • You must have USTA (United States Trotting Association) Certification
    • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

    Post-Employment Requirement:

    • Commission Employee License
