    Production Engineer (Chaska, MN)

    The Production Engineer is primarily responsible for the technical management, maintenance and development of new and existing production lines.

    This individual supports the objectives of Marotta Controls, Inc. relative to manufacturing and operational goals.

    In this role the Production Engineer will develop, implement, and maintain methods, operation sequences, test equipment, and processes that continually ensure that equipment capacity will meet customer demand.

    The Production Engineer will also implement process improvements based on demonstrated improved yield results and participate in defect reduction activities and lean initiatives.

    Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
    ~5+ years' experience in design and manufacturing of electric motors
    ~2+ years of related experience in a production/operations environment
    ~ Working knowledgeable of electric motor and their components, the processes and techniques for manufacturing, and the equipment and methods for testing
    ~ Highly computer literate, with MS Office/PC expertise, and demonstrated experience with applicable systems, programs, equipment, etc.
    ~ Develop and maintain testing policies, procedures, and performance metrics, in order to achieve targeted manufacturing objectives
    Understand and implement various machining, part creation/fabrication and the measurement techniques implementing GD&T best practices to assure part and assembly compliance
    Investigate, assess and resolve production issues effectively
    Implement improvements to current operations to improve efficiency
    Effectively communicate with suppliers to procure necessary tooling, fixtures, and equipment
    Create assemble and test procedures for production hardware
    Analyze layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization to maximize efficiency
    Contribute to the ability of the Operations function to meet intended design requirements, by understanding and properly utilizing manufacturing tools and equipment
    Design detailed assembly procedures and tooling.
    Generate procedures from various industry and aerospace specifications.
    Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to tool/fixture design, material selection, facility layout plans, cost estimates, DFM concepts, GT&D practices, machine shop documentation (oper./root cause investigations, trouble shooting, performance metrics and machine shop operational activities
    Secure external resources (subcontracted services) to maintain and ensure equipment is operational
    Operation Sheets, Routers, Set-up/Tooling sheets, etc.) through effective selection of manufacturing methods (inclusive of inspection point selection)
    Programs through the effective application of CAD/CAM software
    Design efficient/safe tools and fixtures required to support electric motor manufacturing and operations
    Generate accurate estimates (i.e. set-up, cycle time, material, etc.) Define, monitor and communicate the status of performance metrics to management. Facilitate training, as needed, to maintain a cross-trained workforce and to support operational goals and objectives
    Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to various regulatory and internal system requirements
    Ensure that work area(s) are clean, secure, and well maintained
    Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment, including, but not limited to: fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise and vibration
    This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment.

    This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).

    Some travel may be required for this position (5-20%)
    This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are (4 days X 9 hours, Monday-Thursday) + (4 hours, Friday). Overtime and weekend work could be required as job duties demand.

    Must be able to travel to NJ up to 25% of the time for required training during the first three months of employment.
