SUBFUNCTION DEFINITION: Responsible for receiving and processing all samples for the Genetics Lab through the LIS.Split 2nd/3rd shift position + rotating Saturdays + 1-2 holidays per year
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lab Support Responsible for receiving and processing all samples for the Genetics Lab through the LIS. The samples are collected at different TRC draw centers, Satellite labs, OP clinics, and outside clients including international clients. There are set times to pick up samples around the hospital and bring them back to the lab to log in.· Safety
Ensures patient safety by identifying the correct patient. identifying special needs and preparing isolation precautions for patients who have Infectious Disease indicators.
· HIPAA/Confidentiality
Maintains confidentiality, protects and safeguards patient/family personal medical and financial information at all times during collection, use and storage. Access only information and records necessary to perform the responsibilities ofyourthe position.
· Compliance
Completes and authenticates all documents and questionnaires that ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (JCAHO, CMS, ODH)We are a CAP (College of American Pathologists) accredited lab, so we have annual competencies and procedures that are required. Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:· High school diploma or equivalent
· No directly related experience
Preferred: *Customer service/administrative experience in a healthcare environment*Attention to detail and commitment to quality are required
