- Deploy, install, and configure new network devices and/or network services or upgrade existing devices and services for CENIC Associates
- Work closely with the CENIC Program Management Office to gather member requirements and recommend appropriate network deployment solutions based on existing service offerings
- Partner with other members of the Network Engineering team to complete complex member deployment requests, such as dark fiber builds
- Create and update network documentation needed to ensure a maintainable, streamlined, and efficient CENIC network
- Participate in updating and revising policies, procedures, technical reports, and internal training material as needed
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Well-organized and able to track and manage multiple simultaneous internal and external requests
- Strong commitment to customer service and a team-first mindset
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment to implement member needs
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- 2 years experience with network configuration, implementation, and operations
- Experience with Cisco and Juniper routers and switches
- Experience with OSPF or IS-IS, and IP Routing basics
- 4 years experience with network configuration, implementation, and operations
- Cisco CCNA or JNCIA certifications
- Experience with BGP, MPLS, Segment Routing, and EVPN
- Experience with optical transmission systems such as WDM
- Experience in a university and/or research environment
- Experience with network tools such as Zabbix, Netbox, Cisco NSO, etc.
- Basic Python or other programming knowledge
