Description:

Position Purpose: As a Compliance Specialist at Mercy Care Atlanta, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a safer environment by mitigating risks for all individuals within the organization. Reporting to the Manager of Quality and Compliance, you will serve as a key resource on medical/legal concerns, supporting our mission to maintain patient safety, enhance quality care, and protect facility assets.

What You Will Do:

Facilitate risk management activities including loss control and prevention.
Review daily MIDAS risk events and refer to leadership as needed.
Direct investigations and reporting of events.
Conduct causal analysis investigations and guide corrective action planning.
Collect, evaluate, and distribute data on patient events; present quarterly reports to multidisciplinary groups.
Develop and implement educational materials on risk management for leadership, medical staff, and department personnel.
Recommend revisions to policies and procedures to adhere to current standards and mitigate risks.
Conduct surveys and studies for long-term planning and policy/system changes.
Support liability claims and risk financing.
Participate in evaluation of claims for settlement or risk adjustment.
Coordinate the renewal of insurance policies and maintain related documentation.
Organize and supervise compliance site visits and audits.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
Certification (CPHRM) required within 3 years of employment.
4-8 years of experience in risk management preferred; RN or legal experience is a plus.
Comfort using data to drive change/improvement.
