    Description

    Job Description: As a Certified Medication Assistant, the primary purpose is to assist in the administering of medications to residents under the direction of the attending physican, Charge Nurse/ Nurse supervisor, and the Director of Nursing work directly with CMA's.

    Duties and Responsibilites:

    • Follow the policies and procedures of the facility governing the administration of medications to the residents.
    • Report errors in the administration of medications; complete medication adminisration error report as apporopriate.
    • Accurately and safely prepare and administer medications that are ordered by a licensed practitioner.
    • Record and restock medication inventories, process discontinued medication as directed by the Director of Nursing in accordance with facility policies.
    • As a medication aide, you must be familiar with common medical abbreviations, symbols and terms relative to the administration of medications as used by the facility, pharmacists, and physicans.
    • Notifies the appropriate staff when a resident complains of pain.
    • CMA's must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.

    Education Requirements: Must be a licensed Certified Medication Aide having successfully completed a state approved training program and any necessary examinations in accordance with the State of Oklahoma.
