Responsibilities:
Supervision: All services of an SLPA are performed under the direction and supervision of a state licensed SLP who has at least two years of full-time professional experience.
Treatment-provide individual or group therapy using evidenced-based approaches to address client goals.
Documentation- monitor and write goal progress in daily therapy notes, quarterly progress reports, annual plan of care and/or IEP/MET following appropriate guidelines for each type of document.
Evaluation- identify and interpret data from case history, standardized tests, informal measures to formulate a diagnosis and write recommendations and treatment plan appropriate for each setting.
Prevention-perform informal observations and screenings to detect or rule out potential disorders.
Education- educate team members about disorders, their causes, and how to best help clients.
Counseling- establish positive rapport with clients, caregivers and teams to help them understand how to navigate challenges and provide home plans, intervention strategies, modifications and accommodations.
Compliance-maintain up to date knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, policies, and regulations.
Time Management/Organization-monitors documentation due dates to meet timeline compliance, uses indirect time to prioritize, schedule and complete daily, weekly and monthly required documentation tasks.
