    Description


    We are seeking a highly skilled welder with experience welding heat-resistant super alloys (HRSA) and other difficult to weld materials.

    This position is responsible for performing critical functions in a high mix, low volume manufacturing environment, supporting a company that plays a vital role in national defense.


    The primary focus of this role will be managing welding projects and performing welding on complex assemblies using specialized techniques and rigid procedures to meet stringent quality requirements.

    The ideal candidate will also possess CWI certification, as well as knowledge of NAVSEA technical publications. Experience with NDT and robotic welding is a strong advantage.

    Responsibilities/Objectives


    PERFORMANCE:
    Execute defect free welding on mission critical alloys, while possessing the necessary knowledge base to be primary source for welding WPS and PQR development per Cogitic NAVSEA Tech Pub requirements

    TECHNOLOGY:
    Utilize various joining techniques including brazing, GTAW, GMAW and Hot Wire Tig (Tip Tig) to join Carbon, Stainless, Nickel and Copper alloys

    ORGANIZATION:

    Assist in the development and support of Cogitic's growing welding program, establishing procedures and processes which exceed our customer requirements.

    This role will drive welding capabilities and processes, specification knowledge and compliance while establishing a plan to stand up internal CWI and in-house NDT capabilities.

    Join Carbon, Stainless, Nickel and Copper alloys to fabricate high-quality components according to specifications- including weld repair of castings and cladding / hardfacing of dissimilar metals.

    Utilize specialized welding techniques to ensure the integrity and quality of welded joints.
    Interpret NAVSEA (Naval Sea Systems Command) technical publications and adhere to relevant regulations and guidelines.
    Collaborate with engineering teams to understand welding requirements and specifications.
    Operate and maintain welding equipment and tools, ensuring safety and efficiency.
    Troubleshoot welding issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
    Maintain accurate records of welding procedures, inspections, and test results.
    Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and best practices related to welding and super alloys.

    All operational data (time estimates and actuals, work orders, instructions, and process development) responsible for is entered, stored, maintained, and updated in ERP.Effective collaboration and communication are demonstrated through daily interactions and task execution.

    Organizational RelationshipsThe Welding Engineer reports to the Manufacturing Manager and has support responsibilities to Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Mission Assurance and Quality.

    Qualifications and Experience

    5+ years hands-on welding experience, preferably with a strong emphasis specializing in carbon/stainless steel/copper alloys.

    CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification preferred.1-2 years hands-on experience with operation of robotic welding a plus.2+ years hands-on experience with NDT techniques (ASNT Level II strongly preferred) (relevant specialties include VT, PT, MT, RT, and UT)Familiarity with ERP, Microsoft Office and other technical software systems – required.

    US citizen - required.

    Ability to pass a background check and hold a security clearance – required.
