    Summary Job Description

    Covenant Day School's Restoration and Sustainability Director serves as a specialist and leader for advancing creative and innovative service-minded projects at CDS in support of the school's mission and values. The director's work is critical in connecting faith and learning in Christ with prayer through strategic intersections of disciplines, service opportunities, entrepreneurial approaches, and science and technology opportunities as they come to light by the grace of God. While a primary time emphasis will exist at the high school level, this position also calls for a leader who serves as a liaison between the three building level principals, other campus leaders, the JK-12 faculty and our community with restoration and sustainability initiatives. The Director reports to the High School Principal with campus accountability to the Associate Head of School, and the role is full time, exempt (salaried) and serves as an eleven-month campus leader.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities
    • Develop and maintain vision and plans for lower, middle and high school campus R&S initiatives for an ongoing three-year period, gaining vision and strategy from building level principals to build the plan and overview projects within each division; while serving as the implementer of high school initiatives, also be available as a consult and support to the lower and middle school projects
    • Work with the high school principal to set vision and implement an annual high school winter term program that incorporates and exemplifies goals of the R&S program; serve as the leader and ongoing project administrator for the ongoing winter program
    • Partner with the building level principals and teachers to ensure R&S courses are designed with appropriate course objectives, content and projects; work to determine the scope and sequence for curricular and co-curricular needs
    • Serve as the campus lead on travel process and risk management support for all international and domestic overnight travel and trip planning
    • Participate with the high school principal in budget process for R&S high school initiatives on an annual basis; partner with the development office on R&S initiatives related to fundraising (such as Clay Shoot, Common Grounds Coffee, etc.)
    • Possibly teach up to two classes in the high school.
    • Supervise the R&S Associate Director who supports high school classes and campus wide R&S administration and travel needs
    • Serve as the campus wide spokesperson for R&S initiatives
    • Support professional development needs for the R&S program and faculty who teach and implement projects
    • As appropriate, find personal professional development opportunities through organizations that are relevant to restoration and sustainability
    • Other responsibilities as assigned by the high school principal or associate head of school
    Qualifications
    • Committed follower of Jesus Christ, reflecting a desire to serve Him and others in work and life
    • Eager to serve in a Christian learning environment, modeling diligence, perseverance, resilience, patience, courage, and Christian discipleship
    • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred; teaching experience preferred
    • An understanding of leadership and teaching with biblical worldview and integration
    • Effective problem solving and analytical ability
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Ability to work in a team environment
    • Positive attitude and a genuine love for and ability to connect with school aged youth
    • Able to represent the school well to others and our community.
    • Demonstrated ability to serve with initiative and proactive approaches
    • Computer skills as applicable for the role
    • Able to lift/move up to forty pounds when needed
