    Overview

    Legacy Medical Group - Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is seeking a sixth board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation physician/physiatrist to join our practice.

    Our physicians have the opportunity to see patients across diverse locations including:


    • The Rehabilitation Institute of Oregon (RIO)
    • Legacy Emanuel Medical Center supporting Level I Trauma, Burn, and Comprehensive Stroke Center programs
    • Outpatient clinics on the campuses of Legacy Good Samaritan and Legacy Meridian Park Medical Centers

    Legacy Rehabilitation Institute of Oregon (RIO) is a 36-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility located at Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center in Portland, Oregon.

    Established 75 years ago, RIO provides the highest-level inpatient rehab care in the region, is CARF accredited, and has been recognized in US News and World Reports Rehabilitation rankings.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education:
    Graduate of four-year U.S. Medical School or equivalent.
    Satisfactory completion of an accredited residency or fellowship in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

    Certification/Licensure:
    Board eligible/certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
    Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the applicable state.
    Active member in good standing of Hospital Medical Staff.
    BLS certification minimally required (ACLS may substitute for BLS).

    GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    CLINICAL

    • Serves as Attending Physician on patients admitted to Legacy Rehabilitation Institute of Oregon.
    • Provides direct medical care and consultation services for patients requiring rehabilitation services who are hospitalized at a Legacy hospital, or who are referred for outpatient evaluation or services.
    • Provides or arranges coverage or cross coverage for Rehabilitation Services, twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week.
    • Responds promptly in writing to referral source with evaluation and suggested plan of care.
    • Provides telephone consultative services as appropriate for patients with injuries and/or disabilities possibly requiring rehabilitation services.
    • Provides medical coordination of direct patient care delivered by multidisciplinary team including nurses and therapists.

    ADMINISTRATION

    • Collaborates with colleagues and other staff to develop and implement standards, policies, protocols, and quality assurance guidelines for rehabilitation services across the entire organization of Legacy Health.
    • Advises Legacy Health on new technology that pertains to rehabilitation services.
    • Participates in selecting, training, and evaluating personnel providing rehabilitation services.
    • Participates with physicians, surgeons, support services and other hospital personnel in coordinating the care of patients receiving rehabilitation services.
    • Facilitates the transfer of patients between the clinical units and Rehabilitation Service.
    • Meets regularly with appropriate service line administrators and colleagues, to review clinical and administrative issues.
    • Participates as requested in teaching activities including resident, student, nurse, and therapist education and outreach continuing medical education.
    • Serves on Department, Hospital, and Legacy Health System committees as requested.
    • Participates in marketing/outreach for rehabilitation services as requested.
