Adair County Health System is searching for a PRN RN to work in our Surgery Department.This is a great opportunity to work in our highly acclaimed OR with our talented surgeons specializing in orthopedic, general, urology, and podiatry.
Brief description of job:
Under general supervision, performs professional nursing services in the operating room, procedure room, post anesthesia care unit, and same day surgery area in accordance with professional nursing standards, Hospital policies and practices, and physician preferences.
Duties include, but are not limited to, patient scheduling; pre-op teaching; pre-operative preparations such as IV insertion, medication passing, pre-operative shaving and cleansing along with vital, lab or specimen collection or any other indicated task.
OR circulating; assisting with operative procedures and anesthesia; scrubbing for surgical procedures; preparing and maintaining sterile fields; and delivering sterile instruments and supplies.
Processes and sterilizes instruments and supplies for all areas of the Hospital in accordance with manufacturer instructions and Hospital policies and providing direction for non-professional care givers.
Requirements
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Licensure/certification:
Current RN license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa and certification in ACLS, BLS, and PALS required.
AORN, NISE or other surgery related accreditations or willingness to acquire would be strongly recommended.Previous Work Experience:
One-year operating room experience in an acute care facility strongly preferred.
Skills:
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English with people from diverse professional, educational and lifestyle backgrounds both orally and in writing.
