- Tuition, fees, books, uniform and NCLEX exam fees are paid directly to Heartland Community College by OSF (or with Path Grant funding).
- Students who are accepted into the OSF Apprentice Program will commit to work 3 years at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center. Year one as an apprentice working one 12- hour shift a week (0.3 FTE) and then full time (0.9 FTE) as an RN year 2 and 3.
- Between graduation and passing the NCLEX apprentices may work as graduate interns at a higher rate of pay.
- BSN completion coverage is available once an RN.

OverviewPOSITION SUMMARY:
Selected participants will be enrolled in their final year of the Heartland Community College Registered Nurse Program, work minimal hours at OSF St Joseph Medical Center as a *Student Nurse LPN Apprentice or *Student Nurse Intern Apprentice during the program, and after completion of the program work full time as an OSF Registered Nurse - all at no cost to the participant.
Program Details:
Participants are eligible for a $7,500 sign on bonus the first month they are employed with OSF working in the apprentice position and an additional $17,500 on their first paycheck in the RN role (dollars are lump sum taxable income).
As an apprentice you will work side by side with a nurse, allowing for a shorter orientation period when you become a registered nurse.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Participants must be enrolled in the 2nd year of Heartland Community College's Registered Nurse program for the Fall 2023 semester which begins on Monday, August 21, 2023 with anticipated graduation in May 2024.
