    Position Title: Driver

    Division: Family Permanency Services

    Program: Residential Foster Care/Congregate Care program

    Reports to: Group Home Supervisor

    Schedule: This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime pay when working more than 40 hours during a single calendar week (Monday - Sunday).

    Work hours: are normally Monday to Friday any 8 hours between the hours of 7AM & 7PM. Requires flexibility and availability for emergencies and appropriate coverage. At times weekends may be required to meet program needs.

    BASIC FUNCTION:

    The program driver plays an integral role in supporting our Residential Foster Care Program by transporting staff and program residents to various sites/locations including medical facilities and schools. In addition to providing transportation, the driver will take responsibility of the assigned van and will report back on any van issues that may arise (i.e. gas, tires, engine, or other issues as noted). This position will require travel in and around all NYC boroughs, Westchester County, Nassau County, and other locations/states as needed.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Safely transports youths and program staff to:
    • Scheduled appointments
    • Recreational sites/activities
    • School (drop-off and/or pickup)
    • Parent/guardian's home as needed
    • Delivers/picks up program documents to/from agency's office sites

    • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license at all times and be able to maintain a 'satisfactory' motor vehicle record.

    • Ensures that transportation complies with NYS Laws (seat belts, car seats, speed limits, etc.).

    • Is aware of scheduled & non-scheduled maintenance and insures that needed car service/maintenance is performed.

    • Reports all vehicle accidents and routine/emergency vehicle maintenance needs to the agency's Fleet Manager in real time.

    • Returns agency vehicle in clean and usable condition ensuring that the vehicle log is completed and that the vehicle has no less than
    • tank of gas.

    • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle

    • Displays positive values through the use of appropriate standards of employee behavior. Is courteous to all passengers in the vehicle

    • Utilizes the teachings of the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) curriculum to manage residents' negative or challenging behaviors as they arise.

    • Reports all critical & non-critical incidents in real time to the Program Director or designated administrator.

    • Displays positive values through the use of appropriate standards of employee behavior.

    • Checks email daily for updates regarding schedules and itinerary.

    • Complies with all required trainings, including defensive driving, mandated reporter, & TCI.

    • May be required to assist with administrative duties when not driving

    • Upholds Catholic Guardian Services' Policy to provide an alcohol and drug free therapeutic environment

    • Maintains confidentiality of program resident/clients

    Position Requirements

    QUALIFICFATIONS
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Valid driver's license.
    • Have and be able to maintain a "satisfactory" motor vehicle record
    • Ability to work with little supervision.
    • Keen on working in a fast-paced environment where requirements can quickly change
    • Excellent communication skills.
