    Description


    The Archdiocese of Chicago, the third largest in the United States, serves more than 2.2 million Catholics in 216 parishes in Cook County and Lake county, a geographic area of 1,411 square miles.

    The Archdiocese, pastored by Cardinal Blase J.

    Cupich, has more than 13,000 employees in its systems and ministries, including Catholic Charities, the region's largest nonprofit social service agency.

    The Archdiocese also has one of the country's largest seminaries. The Archdiocese's 150+ elementary and secondary schools comprise one of the largest U.S. private school systems. Its schools have received 96 U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Awards.


    The Accounting Service Center Accounting Analyst supports the accounting and payroll processing services to parishes and schools within the Accounting Service Center (ASC) in accordance with Archdiocesan policies and guidelines under the direction of the ASC Accountant / Supervisor.

    Responsibilities

    Handles all bookkeeping functions including but not limited to:


    Financial Management:
    Processes/posts accounts payable transactions and ensures that all invoices and staff reimbursements are paid accurately and in a timely mannerProcesses cash receipts, records/posts depositsPosts wire transfers, ACH and credit card transactionsPosts payroll journal entriesAssists with monthly, quarterly and annual journal entriesSupport reconciling non-operating checking and saving accounts monthlySupport monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accountsMaintain tax information for vendors, and send out required tax forms within the required deadlinesWork with the Accountant / Supervisor to report Open Items to, Pastor, Principal, and appropriate key members on a regular basisAssists with preparing materials for Finance council meetingsProvides reports and guidance around financial health of parish and school operations


    Payroll Administration:
    Assists with payment of salaries, benefits and other payroll functions, including benefit deductions and garnishmentsCollect and enter employee data, such as personal information, pay rates, taxes, voluntary deductions, and Human Resources required data, into the IOI payroll provider systemAnalyze time sheets summaries, and enter and transmit payroll data into the IOI payroll provider systemEnsure approval of payroll information by Pastor and/or Operations Director/Business Manager prior to payroll submission


    General:
    Participate in ASC meetings, including preparing for meetings and implementing initiatives at the parishes and schools assignedEnsures proper internal controls are in place and followedEnsures that all Parish federal, state and local taxes are paid in accordance with federal, state and local regulationsUtilizes Archdiocesan Best PracticesPerform other responsibilities as assigned by ASC Accountant / Supervisor
