    Position Summary
    The Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, State University of New York at Buffalo, Department of Microbiology and Immunology is seek a Lecturer.

    The Lecturer will teach our undergraduate and graduate student populations fundamental and relevant coursework. The primary role will be directing the laboratories for our large undergraduate courses. The Lecturer will also serve as course director for the Summer Microbiology Course that is part of the JSMBS Post-Baccalaureate Program. They will have the ability to independently develop lectures and materials while also being able to seek guidance from our highly specialized faculty. We are seeking an individual who has vision and enthusiasm for teaching.

    Lecturer will be responsible for:

    • Directing of large undergraduate laboratories

    • Handling and maintaining lab chemicals, biologic materials, and supplies

    • Overseeing student workers and staff

    • Creating and updating procedures for laboratory courses

    • Creating and presenting lectures, labs, videos, and associated teaching materials (exam questions, handouts, etc.) for Fall, Spring, and Summer Session undergraduate and graduate courses

    • Using UBLearns/Brightspace online learning platform

    • Proctoring exams

    • Grading and inputting grades into HUB

    • Analyzing course evaluations to facilitate improvements to courses

    • Implementing course improvement recommendations

    • Assisting in new course development

    • Serving as liaison to relevant University offices, such as the Office of Accessibility Resources to ensure appropriate protocols are followed

    • Staying up to date in the field, attending departmental seminars and thesis defenses, and attending training as necessary.

    Minimum Qualifications
    M.S. in a related field and 1 year of teaching experience

    Preferred Qualifications
    Ph.D. in related field; Bacteriology lab experience
