    Sterling Engineering is seeking a Sales Engineer This position is responsible for providing supporting customers through conversations, application evaluation, costing, quoting, understanding efficiency gains through product acceptance and conceptualizing customer requests to help drive quote conversion percentage.

    Responsibilities:
    • Manages specific projects/orders throughout the Engineering design stages while communicating with customers per application.
    • Maintains continuity on custom projects for accuracy of final product compared to proposal.
    • Provides quote, estimating, costing, application evaluation, quote follow up and project management as required.
    • Day to day quoting involvement through applications & communication with customers to provide quotes on opportunities.
    • Helps define solutions for application requests and costing quotes.
    • Provides improved profitability and increased quote accuracy.
    • Communicates directly with consumer from beginning of RFQ through to providing formal proposal.
    • Execute accurate, detailed proposal package.
    • Provides knowledge and technical training to TSR's, customer service/inside sales reps, outside sales reps and others when necessary.
    • Ensures accuracy of product costing.
    • Travels to end user sites to provide on-site technical support to the TSR as required.
    • Work on design of product to maximize cost savings related to labor and material.
    Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in mechanical design or similar field
    • Three years mechanical design experience preferred
    • Two years technical sales support experience in an industrial setting, preferably within the material handling business, demonstrating knowledge of product, channels, vertical markets and competition preferred.
    • Proficiency using electronic design software and file management tools
