Description
Job Purpose
The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for flow of information between systems, the quality of that data, and exposing that data to deliver information and insight.
The Senior Data Engineer oversees the data warehouse, ETL/ELT platforms, and other related systems and ensures connectivity to keep systems operating at full capacity as well as developing solutions to deliver relevant data to systems and customers in a timely and secure manner.
Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesFacilitate the flow of information for students and staff between enrollment systems, student information systems, education applications, business systems, and other systems as needed
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Lead in architecture and design of data warehouse and availability environment
Lead in designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable, and efficient data pipelines and architectures using platforms such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Celigo, etc.
Securely expose relevant data for efficient data analysis, reporting, dashboards, and business intelligence initiativesDevelop and optimize queries and reports using SQL-based tools and technologies
Perform data ingestion, transformation, and other ETL/ELT functions as needed
Act as liaison between vendors and customers
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data pipelines, data warehousing, reporting and analytics, business intelligence, data flows and integrations, etc.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team membersParticipate in business system planning, evaluations, and recommendations to improve service
Inform stakeholders of potential issues, solutions, and potential improvements
Provide insight into data integrity and cleanliness
Facilitate continuous improvement cycle through solution improvements, including product updates, plug-ins, configuration changes, and migration to other platforms as appropriate
Maintain documentation of procedures, processes, configurations, and contacts
Develop, establish, and follow necessary access controls and disaster prevention/recovery methods

Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and experience
Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
4-7 years of experience with data pipeline platforms such as Azure Data Factory, Azure DataBricks, Celigo, etc.
4-7 years of experience with SQL language and relational databases
Experience with unstructured and non-relational databases
4-7 years of DBA experience, including data architecture, design, and optimization
Experience with code-based languages and tools such as Python, Spark, PySpark, etc. for efficient data processing
Experience working with APIs for data extraction and transmission
Experience in database/application connectivity
Strong knowledge of common statistics required
May require travel both inside and outside of state
May require need for occasional weekend or evening travel

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with CSUSA salary and benefit policy. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by Charter Schools USA.
FLSA OVERTIME CATEGORY
Job is exempt from the minimum wage and overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Charter Schools USA's policy.
