    Boston University is seeking applicants with diverse skills and experiences to join our innovative and inclusive community.

    You will work as a Security Analyst I, responsible for responding to cyber security events at the university. You will analyze data from various sources, including Security Incident and Event Management systems, Endpoint Protection Platforms, Firewalls, Vulnerability scanners, and Intrusion Prevention & Detection Systems, to detect and respond to potential security incidents or vulnerabilities.

    Responsibilities

    • Monitor, analyze, and process security events to identify and protect university assets
    • Help process results from vulnerability scans to mitigate risk
    • Assist in maintaining current security procedures
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate security risks
    • Participate in an on-call duty cycle, monitoring tools, and provide 24/7 availability to respond to security events when needed

    Requirements

    • Demonstrated interest in the cyber security field
    • Familiarity with one or more security tools, such as information and event management (SIEM) systems, vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection software, firewalls
    • Knowledge of network protocols, operating systems, and security technologies, familiarity with regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, PCI-DSS, DMCA, and NIST

    • Experience using ServiceNow
    • Certificates: ITIL, GIAC, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent certifications
