The Pittsgrove Township Board of Education is seeking the following position

• SUBSTITUTE BUS AIDE

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Physical examination by a licensed doctor of medicine within 60 days prior to the date of

employment.

• No misuse or abuse of alcohol, prescription or non-prescription drugs.

REPORTS TO:
Transportation Supervisor


JOB GOAL:
To assist in the safe transportation of students to and from school and/or special

activities; and assist the bus driver in monitoring students.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists bus driver with individual problems, as they arise, in order to complete the

assigned transportation route/trip.

• Participates in all in-service training as requested.
• Assists students with boarding and exiting the vehicle when necessary.
• Reports damages to the interior of the bus to the mechanic and Transportation Supervisor

immediately.

• Maintains order when students are on the bus. Reports excessive behavior problems to

the Transportation Supervisor, in conjunction with the bus driver.

• Works as a team with the school bus driver.
• Exercises responsible leadership on out-of-district school trips.
• Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
• Enforces regulations against smoking, drinking, and eating on the bus.
• Participates in random drug/alcohol screenings when requested.
• Participates in drug/alcohol screenings following an accident, when requested.
• Remains physically fit to perform all duties of the job.
• Follows guidelines and procedures as directed by the Transportation Supervisor and in

the Transportation Dept. Handbook.

• Performs other duties as requested by the Transportation Supervisor or a school principal.
