- Assumes responsibility and accountability for assuring quality care as a health care team member within the Perioperative environment.
- The ability to anticipate, plan for, and respond to the needs of the patient, surgeon, and other team members.
- Maintains confidentiality of information regarding patients, patient families, coworkers, and physicians.
- Must have a high school diploma or the equivalent GED.
- Must be a graduate of a Surgical Technologist program or must provide evidence of employment as a Surgical Technologist prior to July 1, 2009.
- Must have current certified surgical technologist certification; or obtain certification within 12 months completion of a degree from an accredited school of surgical technology;
- Or must provide evidence of employment as a certified surgical technologist prior to July 1, 2009; or must be a current valid licensed practitioner providing evidence of employment as a surgical technologist. Certification must be renewed every four years. Completes required 15 CEU credits annually. Must maintain current CPR certification.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of general computer skills and applications.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds; 100 pounds shared lifting.
