This Sr Product Owner role is within the Renewables Integration Team and provides product leadership for the Interconnection Management System (IMS). The IMS serves as the software system for processing Interconnection requests for generators both utility-scale and small (e.g. rooftop solar) across our six regulated jurisdictions. The IMS manages workflows from interconnection application submittal through engineering study and site commissioning. The system also handles electronic payments and contract execution related to interconnection request. Given the broad scope and complexity, responsibilities are divided with a second Product Owner.

The team is undertaking a large project to replace the current IMS with a new vendor product. This position will provide Product Owner leadership through the ~18 month project and continue to support and further improve the new system once implemented to meet changing business and policy requirements. The Product Owner will work with a cross-functional agile team including vendor resources plus internal IT and business SMEs. The Product Owner is responsible for driving team collaboration and decision-making and escalating issues and decisions to project leadership as appropriate.

The Product Owner is responsible for cultivating a deep understanding of the interconnection business processes and policies and working with business process owners and SMEs to document and translate into workflows, business rules, and logic configured within the IMS. The Product Owner develops the product roadmap and is responsible for managing changes to the IMS over time while minimizing disruptions to on-going operations.

A solid understanding of Duke Energy's regulatory framework is beneficial as the role requires the ability to read and understand details of state and FERC Interconnection Standards, Service Regulations and requirements.

Additionally, experience working with large software and IT systems and with data analysis, reporting, testing, data validation, and data migration are valued in applicants for this role.
