    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Director of Development, Corporation & Foundation Relations is a key member of a productive team of fundraising professionals working to raise significant dollars to support Spoonfuls' mission and operations.

    Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Director of Development will work in partnership to set and implement annual fundraising strategies, with the goal of expanding Spoonfuls' fundraising program, specifically surrounding corporate and foundation contributions.

    This position will oversee all corporate and foundation relation activities, including the management of a portfolio of existing relationships and the research and engagement strategy for new C&F funders.

    Currently, the Director of Development will manage one team member, the Senior Grants Manager, but will be an integral part of a comprehensive Development, Communications, and Public Affairs team.

    The ideal candidate will be driven, self-motivated, and an eager participant in peer mentoring and coaching.

    It is the expectation of all Spoonfuls team members to be flexible, adaptable, and willing to assist other departments as needed to get the job done and accomplish annual goals.


    HOURS
    Hybrid - Full-Time, Exempt: Monday through Friday, 9AM-5PM. Occasional nights and weekends may be required, particular for events.
    Responsibilities
    Serve as a member of Spoonfuls' Leadership Team
    Develop and oversee strategy for corporate and foundation giving, in partnership with the Chief Advancement officer
    Lead the solicitation of corporate partners for five- and six-figure commitments (including multi-year financial commitments)
    Oversee a robust portfolio of corporate event sponsors
    Work with the Board, event based fundraising committees, and other ancillary groups to identify and cultivate new corporate and foundation donors
    Write and edit proposals, reports, LOIs and other correspondence for submission of grant applications to foundation, corporate, and government funders
    Supervise the Senior Grants Manager, providing direction and assistance to ensure annual goals for performance and professional growth are met
    Engage in conversations surrounding philanthropic trends and best practices in foundation and corporate giving; recommend new ideas as appropriate to enable the team to creatively secure funding
    Exercise good time management, critical thinking and sound judgment to prioritize projects and identify viable opportunities to pursue funding
    Collaborate with other Departments, as necessary
    Qualifications and Experience
    Strong written communications skills, ability to create compelling narrative while effectively tailoring the message for different audiences
    Strong organizational and project management skills –

    an ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities, meet deadlines and work well under pressure with a high degree of autonomy
    People management skills
    Motivated by meeting and exceeding revenue goals to drive support for the mission
    Ability to research and cultivate new and renewed strong relationships among foundation, corporate, and government funding sources
    A passion for, and familiarity with, food rescue and food justice issues
    Invested in supporting underserved communities
    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
    8+ years of experience and an established record of success in securing gifts from foundations and corporations through effective proposal writing, or relevant business development experience

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing and materials management is required. This would require the ability to move files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT
    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Some tasks outside the office may be required (attending meetings, attending events, shipping materials, etc.).
