    Work Schedule Summary

    - Monday-Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm.

    - This position will be full-time and is expected to start on 5/13/2024 and end on 8/16/2024.

    - When starting before 5/13/2024 the position will be part-time and will go back to part-time after 8/16/2024.

    Position Responsibilities

    Position Summary

    This position will assist with the wheat breeding program duties at the Parker Farm, which is located approximately 1 mile east of Moscow on the Troy Highway. The position will also assist with greenhouse duties at the Moscow campus greenhouse. Travel is required and is common, but much of the time, work is performed at the two UI sites (Moscow and Genesee).

    • Traveling to field sites in northern Idaho for data collection, plot maintenance and harvest.
    • Operating research-scale equipment.
    • Processing seeds in seedhouse.

    Contribute to greenhouse work by:

    Job Duties/Responsibilities
    • Preparing pots, flats and seeds for planting.
    • Hand planting seeds and transplanting seedlings.
    • Watering and general care of greenhouse experiments.
    • Hand harvesting and processing of greenhouse produced seeds.

    Position Qualifications

    Required Qualifications
    • Must have valid driver's license and pass UI driving records check.
    • Willing to travel throughout the northern part of Idaho.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience operating farm equipment, such as small plot combines.
    • Ability to safely operate vehicles towing loaded trailers.
    • Farm experience of any kind.
    Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
    • Will be required to work in typical local climatic conditions outside or inside the greenhouse.
    • Lift, carry, and/or otherwise move seed bags weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • Dependably work outdoors 5 days/week and take notes on field plots.
    • Ability to travel to different job sites day to day.
