    Description

    JOB SUMMARY
    This position will involve working collaboratively with psychologists to assess student's potential needs for exceptional educational services. The Educational Diagnostician will administer achievement tests and various rating scales as directed by the psychologist. They will also perform classroom and intervention observations and write up those observations to be included in psychological reports.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in an educational field (Master's Degree preferred)

    • Minimum of 2 years experience in an educational setting, special education/intervention preferred

    • Professional license from the Tennessee Department of Education

    • Reliable transportation and ability to travel between schools

    • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Director of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable

    FLSA STATUS Exempt
    SCHEDULE 200 Day

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

    • Reports to Director of Exceptional Education

    • Administer various individual achievement tests, provide scanned assessment protocols to School Psychologist for scoring and interpretation

    • Administer various rating scales (social/emotional, autism, adaptive, etc.)

    • Score/send to score various rating scales

    • Observe students (in classrooms, interventions, unstructured areas, etc)

    • Document observations and provide to psychologists in a timely manner

    • Attend in-service, staff development opportunities and other required meetings

    • Maintain appropriate documentation as determined by supervisor

    • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all federal, state, and district regulations and policies

    • Establish and maintain satisfactory, respectful working relationships in the school environment

    • Perform other duties as assigned

    • Manual Dexterity: The ability to move the hands easily and manipulate small objects with the fingers rapidly and accurately.

    • Color Discrimination: The ability to perceive or to recognize similarities or differences in colors or shades or other values of the same color.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    This job may require lifting or carrying of objects that exceed fifty (50) pounds, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows: pushing and/or pulling, stooping and/or kneeling, reaching and/or handling, talking, hearing, seeing, and climbing.
