    Job Description

    The OB Surgical Technician assists the OB/GYN physicians, Certified Nurse Midwives, and RNs in both clinical and clerical duties.

    The OB Surgical techs perform selected patient care tasks within the Labor and Delivery setting under the supervision of nursing including but not limited to preparing patients and equipment for special obstetrical surgical procedures, assisting the obstetrical surgical team as a scrub during Cesarean Sections and other surgical procedures in Labor and Delivery, maintaining surgical and other equipment and ensuring adequate supply levels for the Labor and Delivery OR at all times.


    Qualifications:
    Qualifications

    High School Graduate or GED Program required.

    Basic Life Support – Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)


    OB technical training program consisting of didactic and on-the-job training to develop skills necessary to perform job duties as assigned.

    Applicable certifications shall be considered in a review of experience.

    Post-secondary certification in Surgical Technology


    Required:
    Associate degree and/or job-specific work experience.

    Applicable Experience


    Required:
    1-year experience

    Experience:
    Handling of sterile supplies and instruments, Surgical scrub experience, experience working with labor and delivery patients.

    Technical/Clinical Skills

    Basic knowledge and working experience with Medical Terminology
