    Description
    The Practice Manager will assist the Clinical Director with direct day-to-day operations of the Westwood Neurology Clinics. They will oversee the check-in and check-out functions, floor nursing functions, and care coordination functions. Scope of the role includes the Subspeciality Clinical Neurology Programs, Residents Clinics, General Neurology, and EMG clinics. They will oversee all personnel-related duties including but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, training, performance evaluation and counseling. Schedule work assignments to ensure appropriate staffing coverage and minimal use of overtime. Provide orientation and ongoing training to the staff. Provide daily administrative and operational oversight and physical space management.

    Qualifications

    All Required:
    Skill in managing patient issues to achieve resolution in a timely manner
    Skill in verbal and written communications to clearly convey complex problems and proposals in both formal and informal situations.
    Skill in responding to communications from patients, physicians in person, by telephone and by electronic technology and in writing effectively and appropriately
    Skill in setting priorities that accurately reflect relative importance of job responsibilities
    Skill in managing time effectively with frequent interruptions and distractions
    Skill in understanding medical terminology and write concise and grammatically correct medical record notes and messages for others

    Customer service skills to interact tactfully and with sensitivity with general public, personnel and culturally diverse patient populations and patients with neurological impairments to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and use of the Internet to search for information and to query health benefits eligibility and pre-authorization with speed and accuracy on an IBM PC
    Demonstrated ability to adhere to departmental attendance and punctuality standard
    Knowledge and ability to prepare a variety of medical forms including referral forms, insurance claim forms, disability forms, correspondence, etc
    Ability to work variable hours as needed
    Working knowledge of various types of third party payers practice (PPO, POS, managed care, Medicaid, pre-authorization, pre-certification, workmen's comp etc) preferred
    Extensive experience in medical back office setting with physicians, nurses and patients preferred

    Interpersonal skills to promote a cooperative and productive work environment and to establish and maintain cooperative, productive, working relationships with faculty, residents, medical students, and staff from various social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.

    Writing skills to prepare accurate and concise reports and memorandums that clearly convey information utilizing appropriate vocabulary and grammar.
    Accounting skills to plan, prepare, and analyze revenue and expense budgets.
