    Summary

    The Assistant Administrator 2 is responsible for performance of specialized and diversified administrative work within a specified organizational area, or to carry out assignments of hospital-wide scope. Some incumbents in the class may supervise one or more hospital units of a specialized nature embracing various hospital occupations, requiring decisions of an administrative nature in their operation. The incumbent will have a significant role in the administration or preparation of the departments or the organization's budget.

    Responsibilities

    Participates in decision making and confers with the Leadership in developing policies and procedures . Maintains open communication with medical staff, administration, and key personnel concerning problem admissions and finance policies. Participates in the development of automated and back-up systems to facilitate patient flow pertaining to reservations, pre-admissions, funding verifications, bed assignments, and admission and all other operational activities. Trains new employees for all financial functions. Coordinates on-going in-service education for current employees. Maintains open communication, both verbal and written, with Leadership n an on-going basis with emphasis upon current projects, departmental meetings, and finance policies. Collaborates with finance and the medical staff for decision making regarding pre-admissions, financial decisions, and problem accounts. Compiles monthly statistical reports. Prepares additional reports as requested by administration. Serves as Financial Liaison with medical staff and other hospital departments. Handles departmental non-stock purchasing, monitors equipment contracts, and maintains an adequate supply of all materials, including duplicating items. Evaluates and proposes new equipment purchases. Maintains accountability for the placement and coordination of admissions and bed assignments. Conducts departmental meetings. Completes performance evaluations. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs other related work as required.

    Experience

    Generally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience. Management experience is required.

    Education

    Bachelor's degree in related field is required.

    Skill

    Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.

    Credentials

    Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.

    Working Conditions

    Physical Requirements - Job function is sedentary in nature and requires sitting for extended periods of time. Function may require frequent standing or walking. Must be able to lift or carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Jobs in this group are required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: extended use of computers, preparing and analyzing data and analytics, and other components of a typical office environment.
